I am fortunate to have spent most of my career working on projects in deep space

Jonathon Smith

I've worked as a spacecraft navigator at KinetX Aerospace, NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL), and Advanced Space, where I (robotically) orbited Venus, Earth, Jupiter, Saturn, comets CG and Hartley 2, and Kuiper belt object Arrokoth

I have a passion for engineering software tools, in particular JPLs Monte, which has been a career spanning interest of mine. I first used Monte as a navigator at JPL for the Cassini mission at Saturn. Later, I joined the Monte development team and helped organize an in-house Monte training program. I continue to use Monte in my daily work, and consider it an indepensible part of my engineering toolkit

Over the past several years, I've had a chance to explore leadership and entreprenurial interests, as a Group Supervisor at JPL, a technical manager at Planetary Resources, and Navigation Lead at Advanced Space. I am currently doing Monte training and technical consulting through my personal firm Astroceanic (*as-tro-see-an-ic*), and also leading my space software company Navi. Check them out below!
